Carved through the pith of a maple tree branch, the vase is waterproof. It stands 11 inches tall and is 7 inches deep. The opening is 2 inches but the rim is 3 inches across. The base is 3 inches across and 2 inches high. One section has a burl made from smaller branches that grew out of this branch. It is pleasing to see and the lacquer finish allows the wood to glow in any type of lighting.
